The San Martin Silver Mine is 100% owned by First Majestic Silver Corp. The mine holds 33 contiguous mining concessions in the San Martin de Bolaños mining district that cover mineral rights for 37,518 hectares. San Martin also has 1,296 hectares of surface land that cover the areas where the company has the mines access, mine installations, and part of the access roads as well as an additional 160 hectares of surface land where the processing plant, camp, office facilities, maintenance shops, and tailings dams are located. (Mineral rights and surface land rights are independent of each other.) The San Martin mill also underwent an expansion from 950 tpd to 1,300 tpd which was completed in October 2013. At full capacity of 1,300 tpd, San Martin's annual silver production is anticipated to increase by over 50% to approximately 1.4 - 1.6 million ounces of silver in the form of doré bars.
The San Martin Silver Mine is located 250 km north of Guadalajara city in Jalisco State, Mexico. Drive time from the city to the mine is approximately four to five hours, or about 45 minutes by charter plane. San Martin is also near the small town of San Martin de Bolanos, which is just 7.9 km to the east.
