Del Toro Silver Mine

The Del Toro Silver Mine which has been previously referred to as the Chalchihuites Group of Properties is strategically located only 60 km to the southeast from First Majestic's La Parrilla Silver Mine. The property consists of 340 hectares of a contiguous land package which includes two mines; the Perseverancia Silver Mine (now referred to as the Perseverancia area) and the San Juan Silver Mine which are located in the Chalchihuites mining district at the Western portion of Zacatecas State in the municipality of Chalchihuites, and 150 km to the northwest from Zacatecas City.

The properties host silver, copper, lead and zinc mineralization with a potential for near term silver production which could be processed at the La Parrilla. The properties have history of silver-lead-zinc and copper-gold production with extensive underground workings. The properties host potential for manto style silver-lead-zinc replacement type ore bodies, chimney type gold-silver-lead-zinc-copper ore bodies and silver vein type ore bodies and represent significant exploration potential.

Access to the properties is easily achieved due to the close proximity to the Interstate 45 highway and the state roads which connect the Chalchihuites Town and several country and trail roads connect most of the claims. Local infrastructure, including electricity, water and telephones are all presently available. Basic facilities, restaurants, hotels and gas stations can be found in Chalchihuites Town. Major services, banks, repair shops, etc, can be found in Vicente Guerrero Town and in Sombrerete town located both just 50 km away. The climate is moderate to semi-dry. Rainfalls are much more common in summer than in winter. Vegetation is scarce because of the semi-dry weather conditions; in the lower parts cactuses, grasslands and farm lands are common while in the heights, pine and oak forests occur.

San Juan Silver Mine

The San Juan is one of the oldest mines in the area, although there is not enough information; the locals establish it as at least 300 years. Also, there is no data of production but, according to the size of the old stopes, around 100,000 tons of ore have been mined.

The ore bodies at San Juan are vein type, hosted in the skarn and also in the quartzmonzonite.

A major underground development program is presently underway to rehabilitate the mine and access and define resources.

In additional to the underground development, four diamond drill rigs are working to define known areas and explore for additional resources.

Perseverancia Area

Perseverancia has been the most important mine in the area due to its production history and grade. Although there is no production data, it is believed that at least 100,000 tons has been mined with grades averaging more than 500g/ton Ag and 15% Pb. The previous owner, for a period of 23 years until 1997, was sending approx. 150 to 300 tons of high grade mineral (1.5-3.0 kg/t Ag and 20-40% Pb) directly to the smelter.

The ore-bodies are two chimneys hosted in skarn in the contact with the intrusive igneous rock. The chimneys are two elongated bodies controlled by pre-mineral fractures N60°-85°E strike, almost vertical. The sizes of both chimneys are 15-30 meters long by 6-10 meters wide and are known for 195 meters deep. The mineralization is a breccia-filled type with clasts of igneous rock and skarn filled by a mixture of oxidized minerals as cerussite and limonites and galena, sphalerite and argentite in a gangue of quartz and calcite. Sulfides increase in the lower levels of the mine.

The mine has 31 levels reaching 200 meters at depth connected by two shafts; the older one is not accessible. Using the new shaft, the accessible levels are from 22 to 31, separated each by an average of 7 meters. The mine and shaft are in good condition and most of the heads and crosscuts have been reinforced by concrete. First Majestic presently has an exstensive underground development program underway to access old workings and to rehabilitate the mine.

The Geochemical survey conducted in 2005 outlined the possible existance of an extension to depth of the main chimney structure. A drill program from both surface and underground was launched in mid 2006 and is ongoing to determine the size and extent of this known ore body and to determine whether other similar structures exist in the region.

Further Work to be Completed

The Chalchihuites mining district has an old history of production since 1556 and is located in a region of well known large ore deposits such as San Martin (Grupo México), Sabinas (Peñoles) and La Colorada (PanAmerican Silver Corp).

The Company completed a geophysics program conducted by Zonge Engineering & Research Organization of Tucson, Arizona in 2005. Subsequent to this program and as a result of a number of geophysical anomalies discovered, a drill program was launch in early 2006.

Areas of focus have been the strike extension of the San Juan vein structure and the depth extension of the Perseverancia chimney.

Furthermore, at the San Juan drifting and re-habilitated has been underway to access the old fills left in the stopes and to determine the possibility of new discoveries in the intersections of the veins. Approximately 2000 tonnes of high grade ore has been shipped to the La Parrilla mill for processing.
