All Tailings Storage facilities (TSF) operated by First Majestic Silver are assessed on a regular basis and follow our internal Risk Management Protocols as well the Canadian Dam Association guidelines and local Regulatory requirements.
All our current operations produce filtered tailings for ‘dry - stack storage’ within the TSF. This dewatering system recovers process solutions from the tailings before the tails are transported, placed and compacted in the TSF. Additionally any contact water and infiltration solutions are collected in the Pond Storage Facility downstream and are pumped back to the processing plant for reuse.
Our site personnel and internal experts have implemented monitoring and surveillance programs with the use of regular inspections and the use of geotechnical instrumentation, and new technologies using drone surveillance (photogrammetry).
Independent expert reviews of these installations and a review of our internal controls are conducted on a regular basis.
The Company ensures that all relevant engineering records, for design construction, operation, maintenance and closure are maintained.
